Analogue and Writers Block - Days 1-8

Day 1

Met the crew, along with the vfx and writers crews.  did some readthroughs of the scripts, 6 of them (3 for writers block and 3 for Analog.)  We all bounced some ideas around.

Day 2

I got assigned as the producer for Analog!  This also meant that, because Sara, the producer of Writers Block, had to see to other matters about Writers Block, I had to assign roles for that as well.  It was a very hectic day, but I managed to get everyone a job for pre-production, kept it organized, and maintained an air of confidence and leadership.

In between classes, our amazing crew got some really great work done for Henry's Room Concept art.

Day 3 saw some fantastic updates.  Having led a meeting on Sunday and assigning some concept art jobs to do by Wednesday, our artists certainly delivered

We also had some of our artists work a bit on Analog, which I'm very excited for!

From here on in I'll be focusing more attention on Analog and less on Writers Block

Day 4

Some stuff came in for Analog, but focus is much more on Writers Block Storyboards right now.  We have an asset and shot list, but the shot list will definitely be changing.  We were alerted to the expectation that Chris Gallagher has for the scope of our project, and minds began to race. I assigned everyone in the class to at least produce some sort of concept art for.  I also noticed that, as of now, or story and environments are very similar to Pixar's "The Blue Umbrella".

Our organization is much better now than it was, and everyone is placing their files in the google drive, instead of placing them in Slack and me putting them in the drive.

Day 5

People are getting pumped for Analog! They really got excited about the scope of the project!  We got tons of character designs and some good ideas for location.  Soon to come, more fleshed out stuff for that.  We got 2 art directors, Shannon as Environment Art Director, and Dennis as Character Art Director, and Steven and Ana became the lead artists on Environment and Character respectively.

Our 3D bunch got some ideas for environments, and set out to model some basic shapes to get the feel of the city.
I set out to design a realistic Camera Rig

Character Artists set out to start locking down proportions for the silhouettes of our background characters, as well as our hero character.

Day 8

The character team went ahead and did some more explorations, but Tim insisted that they were too cartoony in style, and asked the artists to design more realistic proportions for the characters. I have to agree because it would look very silly to have a bunch of huge buff upper body heavy men walking around, drawing attention, when you want to not be pulling attention from the main action of the scene.  Here is what the artists had for today.

Shannon Hallstein also got rolling on some more beat boards, as well as a study of the hilltop at which our film begins

Day 6

Writers Block may as well be a thing of the past, we are rolling full steam ahead on analog.  The environment team made a whole pdf of their work, and our lead character artist, Ana Hallal got started on some designs for our hero character.  Digiscout did some camera explorations as well

Day 7

These Environment Artists are amazing we are honestly so blessed.
